Sheckler Elementary School's Read A Thon is now underway for the month of February, in honor of Read Across America. Students are asked to read a least 10 minutes each night or you can read to your child. This is for the entire month of February. All types of reading count, and parents and students should feel free to read more then 10 minutes if you wish.
Reading minutes are to be logged on the calender by a parent. Calenders were sent home with students and must be signed by a parent when it is turned in. All calenders are due to back no later than Friday, March 6.
Each student who participates and turns in a signed calender will be included in group picture with his or her grade level to be published in the Sheckler yearbook.
Participating students in the classroom in each grade level that reads the most minutes will receive an ice cream treat.
Also, students who plan to participate in the upcoming TV turn Off Week at the end of February must also participate in the Read A Thon in order to receive the T-shirt from TV Turn Off Week upon completion. Students who do not plan on participating in TV Turn Off are still encouraged to participate in the Sheckler Read A Thon.
This year's goal is to read a total of 75,000 minutes schoolwide for the month of February. Let's all work together to get all students reading and to reach Sheckler's goal this year.
