Parkland graduate

on dean's list

Ashley Lorah of Allentown, exercise science major, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2014 semester at Ashland University, Ashland Ohio.

Lorah, a 2011 graduate of Parkland High School, is a member of the honor's program.

She is the daughter of Scott and Beth Lorah.

To be eligible for this honor, a student must be enrolled full time at Ashland University and achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Ashland University's honors program offers academically talented undergraduate students cross-disciplinary experiences, participation in an intellectual community devoted to discussion and dialogue, and special projects and courses that challenge the mind.

Elizabethtown

Morgan Reiss, a first-year business administration major, and Desiree Yeager, a senior early childhood education major, both from Allentown, have been named to the fall 2014 dean's list at Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown.

To earn this recognition, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better in 14 or more credit hours, of which at least 12 credits are letter-graded course work.

Albright

Kutztown student

tackles project

Kathleen de Haan, a senior French, psychobiology, evolution and animal behavior, evolutionary studies major from Kutztown, is spending the winter tackling an Albright College Creative Research Experience project titled "Behaviors Associated with Initial Attraction: Maladaptive or Adaptive Reactions?"

ACRE is a multi-disciplinary program giving undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct research or pursue creative endeavors during the summer break or the three-week January Interim before the start of the spring semester.

Students work alongside faculty mentors.

This winter, 22 students are participating in ACREs, researching topics ranging from methods for teaching English to non-native speakers, to personality expressions in Facebook status updates, to a campus energy assessment.

Many collaborative teams of students and faculty present their research at academic conferences and publish their results in professional journals.

The following students were named to the dean's list for academic achievement during the 2014 fall semester at Albright.

Kempton: Austin Marich, senior economics/international relations major, Madison VanDuren, freshman art major; and

Kutztown: Angela Cremer, sophomore communications major, and Patrick Wise, a junior biochemistry major..

Allentown student

on dean's list

Nicholas Roehler, music performance major from Allentown, was among 391 students who were named to the dean's list for academic excellence in the fall 2014 semester at The State University of New York at Potsdam, N.Y.

To achieve the honor of being on the dean's list, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically-graded semester hours, with a grade point average of between 3.25 and 3.49 in the given semester.

Derrick Yager of Breinigsville, graduated in spring 2014 from Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz.

He also was named to dean's list for the spring 2014 semester.

Undergraduate students who earn 12 or more graded semester hours during a semester in residence at ASU with a GPA of 3.50 or higher are eligible for the dean's list.
