Mark your calendar! On Jan. 30, there will be a Comedy Night at the Germansville Fire Company, 6011 Memorial Road, Germansville, benefiting Northwestern girls and boys basketball booster clubs.

In addition to comic Buddy Fitzpatrick being the main act, comedians Tommy Gooch and Tyler Rothrock will also take stage during this enjoyable event.

Doors open 7:30 p.m. with the comedy show beginning 8:30 p.m.

The 79th annual dinner meeting for Groundhog Lodge No. 1 will be 6:30 p.m. Feb. 2, at the Germansville Fire Company, Memorial Road, Germansville.

The speaker for the evening will be the Rev. Richard Miller. The groundhog himself will give the weather prediction for the next six weeks in the Pa. Dutch dialect.

A family-style dinner will be served to satisfy the appetite of all.

Lodge members will present a skit filled with humor.

Don't miss it! Heidelberg Association for Retired Persons, better known as H.A.R.P., will meet 11 a.m. Feb. 3, in Heidelberg Church's Fellowship Hall.

This great group of retirees meets the first Tuesday of each month. All retirees are welcome to join them.

Remember, you do not have to be a Heidelberg Church member to attend.

Those attending this month's meeting, which was rescheduled due to inclement weather, will be blessed with the vocal talents of local resident Jack Snyder, who will be singing his beautiful Gospel music.

As always, bring a friend or two, and a covered dish to share.

A little goes a long way! Requests for baked good donations for the Allentown Soup Kitchen are being made for Feb. 9.

Baked goods decorated for Valentine's Day and cherry pies will be gratefully accepted and may be dropped off in fellowship hall 6-7 p.m.

According to Heidelberg Church soup kitchen Assistant Coordinator Linda Hausamann, 192 hot meals were served recently to the hungry and homeless at the Allentown Soup Kitchen.

The meal consisted of tacos with meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, Spanish rice and delicious baked goods of chocolate desserts from faithful Heidelberg bakers.

Special thanks to the following volunteers of the day: Pastor David Hess, Janet and Jack Snyder, Shirley Boger, Eleanor and Ron Klevenhagen, Linda Hausa-mann and Howard Truitt.
