Board prepares for 2015

Washington Township supervisors' Jan. 5 meeting began with Roy Dengler appointed temporary chairman.

He asked for a motion to appoint Josh Friebolin chairman for 2015.

Dengler was appointed vice chairman.

Wages for Secretary-Treasurer JoAnn Ahner were set at $21.40 per hour, a 1.5-percent increase, and $150 for attending a township meeting.

She was also appointed deputy real estate tax collector.

Wages for the assistant secretary-treasurer and earned income tax officer were set at $18.46 per hour, also a 1.5-percent increase.

Justin Yaich retains his position as zoning and zoning enforcement officer at a rate of $21.46 per hour with $50 for attending a planning commission meeting or $100 for a zoning board hearing.

Attorney John Ashley was appointed solicitor at $100 per hour.

Attorney Jill Nagy was appointed solicitor at $150 per hour for labor issues.

Keystone Consulting Engineers will be the engineers for structural and nonstructural matters.

Buckno, Lisicky and Company will do the audit for the township and earned income tax records at a cost not to exceed $9,000.

George Beam was appointed to the vacancy board.

Chris Noll was appointed dry well inspector and sewage enforcement officer with Eric Erb as alternate SEO.

John Kishardt was appointed to the zoning hearing board.

Timothy O'Brian was named an alternate on the zoning board.

An appointment to the planning commission was delayed until a supervisors' meeting.

George Kern was named emergency management coordinator.

Shawn Wanamaker was named to the property maintenance appeal board.

Supervisors' meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

The zoning hearing board will meet 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday as needed with the planning commission meeting the last Monday except if that is a holiday when it will be held at the discretion of the board.

The mileage rate for use of a private car is set at 57 cents a mile.

All supervisors and the secretary will be delegates to the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors convention, with Roy Dengler serving as voting delegate.

The road improvement list, a total of 2.5 miles for 2015, is for Scout House Road and part of Lehigh Street.
