State Rep. Julie Harhart takes oath of office for the 11th time

State Rep. Julie Harhart, R-183rd, took the oath of office for the 11th time Jan. 6

"I continue to be humbled by the trust placed in me to be the voice of the citizens of the 183rd Legislative District," Harhart said. "As always, I will do my utmost to uphold the values and ideals of those whom I represent.

"I look forward to getting started on what is sure to be another busy and productive session."

Harhart, first elected to the office in 1994, was also reappointed to serve as chairman of the Professional Licensure Committee, which considers legislation dealing with the 29 professional and occupational licensing boards and commissions in the commonwealth.

The professions range from physicians and cosmetologists to real estate agents and funeral directors.

The 183rd District includes in Lehigh County, the townships of South Whitehall Districts 5, 6, 8; Washington; Whitehall Districts 7, 10, 11; and the Borough of Slatington.

In Northampton County the district includes Allen, Lehigh and Moore townships, Beersville and Klecknersville and the boroughs of North Catasauqua; Northampton; and Walnutport.
