Prior to the holiday break, second grade students at Wescosville School participated in a pediatric stroke awareness program. Adults took turns sharing information about strokes and suggested what classmates could do to help someone in need. The awareness tree was trimmed with purple lights and ornaments. Each child who attended the program was invited to make a purple awareness band. Instead of wearing the bands on their wrist, the bands were linked together to form a chain. The chain was also placed on the tree with the understanding students should be aware and be willing to help others who have special needs.
