Two join OAA Orthopaedic

For more than 40 years, OAA Orthopaedic Specialists has been serving the Lehigh Valley through dedicated physicians.

Dr. Lawrence E. Weiss and Dr. Amir H. Fayyazi are the latest doctors to join OAA.

Weiss will serve the Hand Institute. Fayyazi will serve the Spine Institute.

"We are focusing on quality as well as convenience," said Vincent Hudson, Chief Operating Officer of OAA Orthopaedic Specialists at a Nov. 18 press conference at the OAA Orthopaedic Specialists, Integrated Health Campus, 250 Cetronia Road, South Whitehall Township.

"We are taking the experts and bringing them to the patients rather than making the patients seek out the experts, " Hudson said.

Weiss received a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, completed his medical school education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, where he continued his fellowship training in Upper Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery.

Fayyazi received an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from John Hopkins University, Baltimore, received a medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and his fellowship in spine surgery at Rush Medical Center, Chicago.

Weiss has written articles for numerous scientific publications. Fayyazi has published his clinical research.

The Hand Institute at OAA is said to be the largest hand center between Philadelphia and New York City. OAA is said to be the only independent orthopaedic practice in the region.

Weiss joins a team of four fellowship-trained hand surgeons.

Fayyazi becomes part of what is said to be the largest contingent of spine physicians in the region at the Spine Center.
