LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am currently in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is AP English. I love analyzing literature and finding the smallest details and symbols in a work of poetry or prose and discovering connections between works. In English, you get to have small epiphanies every day.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I was selected to march in the 2014 Macy's Great American Marching Band in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, I was selected to participate in the PMEA District 10 and Region 5 bands for clarinet and I have been on the principal's honor roll every semester during high school.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I play clarinet in the Emmaus High School marching and concert bands, as well as the pit orchestra for the musicals. I am an organist and choir accompanist for my church and I give piano lessons. I am the president of National Honor Society and a Hornet Ambassador.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: I would like to go to college to pursue a career in music education and possibly minor in piano or clarinet performance. I want to make sure music is always a part of my life.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge so far has been organizing my schedule and deciding which activities to cut. My first few years of high school, I tried to join as many clubs and participate in as many activities as possible. However, I learned that it is much more important to focus on a few things you are truly passionate about than to mindlessly participate in dozens of activities.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I want to be remembered as someone who always has a positive attitude and who tries to find the good in every situation.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: My family consists of my parents Tom and Gayle, my older sister Megan, my younger brother Eric and my dog Misty.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: I look up to my sister for being a great role model and friend. She is so hardworking and driven and I look to her for inspiration. I know I can always ask her for advice about anything.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: My advice is to enjoy every minute of high school, work hard and realize how good your life is in this moment. Someday, we will all look back and wish we were this age again with our whole lives ahead of us, so make the most of every moment.
