Unfortunately, many Emmaus students brought in the New Year with a case of the flu. With the recent outbreak, administrators would like to remind students and parents of the proper precautions when dealing with the flu. Students are encouraged to wash their hands as much as possible and stay home if they are feeling ill.
Midterms will be held at Emmaus High School Jan. 14 through 16. Transportation will be provided at normal time in the morning and 1 p.m. Breakfast will be served as usual and lunch will be provided 10:40 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day between the second and third exam periods.
Students are reminded any absence requires a doctor's note and any student more than 15 minutes late to an exam will receive a zero on his or her test.
SGA will host the annual Mr. Emmaus beauty pageant Jan. 21. Senior boys will compete to see who will be crowned king of the senior class. The show begins 7 p.m. in the auditorium. There is a cost for admission.
SGA will host its winter semiformal dance 7 p.m. Jan. 31 in Café 1. Tickets will be available for purchase closer to the date of the dance.
Congratulations to Shannon McGinnis. McGinnis, a senior and a captain of the girls' soccer team at Emmaus, was named 2014 Eastern PA Conference Scholar-Athlete. She will be honored at the Stroudsmoor Inn in Stroudsburg Jan. 21.
