The start of holiday vacation at Willow Lane Elementary School was celebrated with the "incredible assembly" event."
"This is one of the most special assemblies of the year," Dr. Anthony Moyer, school principal, said in his opening remarks.
Everyone said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang "The Star Spangled Banner" accompanied by the elementary orchestra band.
With almost every seat taken, each grade performed and music and singing filled the auditorium. The flash of cameras now and then could be seen during the assembly like twinkling stars.
Two special performances brought big rounds of applause: the Emmaus High School Dance Team and the teacher skit featuring a drum line performance conducted by Moyer.
"Get involved in your high school career. That is what you will remember the most," Moyer said after the dance performance.
Soriah George and her brother Ryan received special recognition for the poem titled, "Willow Lane ABC." Soriah wrote the poem and her brother Ryan helped illustrate it in book form. Guidance Counselor Jennifer Barr read the poem to everyone at the assembly.
Following distribution of awards, the assembly closed with a song-a-long and the Willow Lane school song.
