UPPER AND LOWER MILFORD COLUMN Youth association spring sports registrations are open
Happy new year!
January is the dead of winter, but if the Upper Milford Youth Association is talking about spring lacrosse, at least we can think spring.
Boys lacrosse registrations for the UMYA spring 2015 season are now open. UMYA will be entering a boys U9 and a boys U11 team into the Lehigh Valley Youth Lacrosse League this upcoming spring season. Final teams will be submitted to the league in early February, so be sure to register soon.
Equipment is available upon request on a first come, first served basis. Ryan Hawkins will direct the boys lacrosse program. Hawkins brings U.S. Lacrosse certified coaching experience to UMYA and is excited to develop the program, which was launched last spring. Practices begin in early February and will be held twice a week, with games scheduled Saturdays or Sundays.
The deadline for registration is Jan. 31. Visit the UMYA.org Lacrosse website for details. Registration payment must be received prior to requesting equipment. Contact Ryan Hawkins at umyalax@gmail.com with questions regarding the program. Questions about registration should be directed to the UMYA lacrosse coordinator at roxann77@ptd.net.
The annual Upper Milford Youth Association open meeting will be held 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Upper Milford Township building. This meeting is open to all UMYA members. Board member elections will be held at this meeting.
In addition to starting the lacrosse program, UMYA also brought back its summer volleyball program last year and, after a great turnout, is looking to build and develop volleyball in 2015.
UMYA basketball is currently in full swing with boys and girls teams in the third, fourth grade league and the fifth, sixth grade league. The first and second graders start this week.
Baseball, softball and spring soccer registrations are now open. Check the website for more information.
