STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am a senior at Emmaus High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: It's really hard to pick a favorite subject. It would have to either be chemistry, computer science or orchestra. They all have their perks. I really love music and orchestra has always been my safe haven of sorts. Computer science really appeals to me because the theory and challenge behind it is quite unlike anything I've ever been exposed to before and chemistry is really fun. Mixing a variety of substances together kind of makes me feel like Harry Potter in a potions class.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I am a part of National Honor Society as well as Spanish Honor Society and Tri-M (music honor society). I am an AP Scholar and a Commended Scholar (PSAT/ NMSQT). I've placed fourth in Cyber Security for Future Business Leaders of America, third place at the National History Day State competition and second place at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competition.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I am historian of Habitat for Humanity and a member of EHS's Sinfonia and Chamber orchestras for the last four years, as well as a member of pit orchestra for the last three musicals. I've also been a member of PMEA's district, regional and state orchestras for the last three years.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: My goal after high school is to attend college and major in pharmaceutical science.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: I have a really bad motivation problem on weekends.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I want to be remembered for being me.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My immediate family consists of: my mother, Keumsook, my older brother, Jonathan, and my little Yorkshire terrier, Joey.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: I look up to my brother, Jonathan, because he is the type of person to always know what to say, even if it's nothing at all.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: My advice to my peers would be to live with your heart and believe in the beautiful existence of you.
