LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Bernhard, White, Clymer place at BHWC

Improvement is what Northwestern was looking for heading into the Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic and that's what head coach Jim Moll got.

The Tigers placed three wrestlers over the two-day tournament held Sunday and Monday at Liberty's Memorial Gymnasium, as Quentin Bernhard (120) and Jarrett White (126) took fifth, while Caleb Clymer (138) finished in seventh with a 5-3 win over Lehighton's Tegan Durishin.

"Caleb really stood out for us during the tournament," said Tigers head coach Jim Moll. "He just wrestles really hard every time he's on the mat for us as a freshman. He's constantly attacking and really fun to watch."

Bernhard scored a 4-0 decision over Nazareth's Garrett Snyder to win his consolation final, while White squeaked out a 4-3 decision over Palmerton's Chase Anklam in the consolation round.

For Moll, seeing improvement against caliber opponents is what he was hoping for heading into another long weekend of tournament wrestling.

"This tournament shows us where we're at," said Moll. "We had three guys lose in the last round of the first day that eliminated them, so that could have made this tournament even better for us.

"We feel good with where we're at and this tournament helps us open our eyes on what we need to do better as a team in the [wrestling] room and on the mat during matches."

The Tigers now set their sights on the Zephyr Duals this weekend at Whitehall, where Moll hopes his team can continue its momentum heading into the new year, especially coming off a tournament where the Tigers wrestled against some of the area's top teams.

"The level of competition in our room has raised so much that it's helped us improve this year," Moll said. "That's part of the reason why we had three guys place here. Now we just have to keep things going at Whitehall."
