Student of the Week
Q What grade are you in?
A I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q What is your favorite subject? Why?
A My favorite subject is biology because I like learning about how the world works and how we can apply science and knowledge to solve problems.
Q Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A I am a National Merit semi-finalist and have won several awards with the EHS Academic Team. I also won fourth place in the EPC conference for doubles tennis with my partner, Katie Xue.
Q Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A I participate in my school's academic team, tennis team and debate team. I am also vice-president of International Justice Mission Club. On Sundays I tutor elementary to middle school students in math and English.
Q What is your next goal after high school?
A I plan to pursue a career in nursing or medical research and travel to underserved countries to improve people's health and help others live better.
Q What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: Learning how to manage my time, allowing myself to relax and focusing my time and energy on what I am really interested in and passionate about.
Q What do you want to be remembered for?
A Being a good listener, a good friend and helping others when I could.
Q Who is in your family?
A My father, Liuji, my mother, Lucy, and my younger brother James.
Q Do you have someone you look up to?
A I am inspired by the late Maya Angelou for her wisdom, her writing and her kind life. My favorite quote from her is: "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
Q Do you have any advice for your peers?
A Don't try to do everything, but focus on doing a few things well. Make sure that what you devote the most time and attention to in your life is what is most meaningful to you and use it to serve society.
