Country Meadows residents enjoy a harp program

Residents at Country Meadows, 410 Krocks Road, Macungie, were treated to a harp concert Dec. 21 by students from Macungie Music Studios under the direction of Sarajane Williams.

Willliams studied harp for 15 years with Dorothy Knauss, a student of Marcel Grandjany and Alfred Holy.

An adjunct faculty member at Cedar Crest College, Williams' compositions and arrangements have been published by Mel Bay Publications.

Williams teaches students of all ages and some of her students have won American Harp Society competitions. Both pedal harp and lever harp instruction is offered.

A graduate of both Cedar Crest College and Kutztown University, Williams is also a licensed psychologist working with autistic children in the field of harp therapy.

During the holiday concert, Williams provided interesting facts about harps, the benefits of harp therapy in hospitals and nursing homes and introduced the many soloists.
