Students and faculty of Community Music School (CMS), above, offered musical "tricks & treats" during the school's annual "Monster Concert" at Barnes & Noble at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley.
This year's fourth annual event, featuring more than 30 performances by students ages 5 to 30 from the Lehigh Valley and appearances by CMS's Thursday Flute Choir, Fusion Vocal Ensemble, and Impressions Jazz Ensemble, was sponsored in part by National Penn Bank.
The three-hour non-stop Oct. 25 concert in the center of the store included a Costume Contest and Bookfair Fundraiser to benefit the school's scholarship programs.
CMS students submitted entries with creative new names for a special drink and cupcake featured in the Barnes & Noble Café during the event. The winners were saxophone student Zev Gould of South Whitehall, with "Chocolate Concerto Cupcake Craving," and "Musiccino" by piano student Gabriela Harrison of Bethlehem. Each winner received a certificate and Barnes & Noble Café gift card for their idea.
The winners of the Costume Contest were Sarah Wakim of Whitehall Township (piano student as the "Mummy"), Juliana Silva of Salisbury Township (piano student as "Elsa"), and Brinn Reph of Allentown (voice student as "Elsa"). Each received a round of applause and CMS goodie bag.
