The Second Harvest Food Bank has outgrown its southwest Allentown warehouse.

Plans to expand its capacity to serve people in need was announced at a press conference in the new location Dec. 15.

The newly acquired facility is located at 6969 Silver Crest Road in East Allen Township.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania distributed 7 million pounds of food last year to 200 nonprofits located throughout a six-county area that includes Lehigh and Northampton counties.

This network of nonprofits serves 70,000 people per month.
