You're hired. That's what one student wants the Northampton Area School District School Board to tell his favorite teacher. Adam Aaron Reichelderfer, a Moore Township Elementary School fifth-grade student, stepped up to the podium at the Nov. 10 school board meeting. Reichelderfer asked school board members to hire Jarod DeGerolamo, a long-term substitute teacher who taught at Moore this fall. Reichelderfer presented a petition to the board he said had 87 signatures. District Superintendent Joseph Kovalchik said that if and when a teacher position opened that DeGerolamo, if he applied, would be considered with other applicants. Adam, a son of Brett and Cindy Reichelderfer of Lehigh Township, also presented a printed statement, which he read at the meeting. "I didn't put him up to this. I'm here as support," said his father, pictured above. He is a former NASD school board member.
