LETTER TO THE EDITOR
I just wanted to thank you [Debra Palmieri] for the great Editor's View ("George Washington's Thanksgiving was different than this president's") published in the [Nov. 26 Salisbury Press, East Penn Press and] Nov. 27, Northwestern Press.
Many American people are asking why the Congress cannot stop this dictatorial president from totally ruining our country.
Perhaps we need to restart our government by voting in the blue collar workers, farmers, factory workers and all who place their backbone into this country.
The upper echelon have no clue what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck, reuse plastic bags to save money, clean their own house, even do their own laundry, go grocery shopping, etc.
Although we do need lawyers and rich people of that caliber, the whole Congress does not need to be made up 100 percent of them.
We, the people, support our government by the sweat of our brow and the pain of our backs as we labor to help to keep our country free.
Our military have suffered enough by VA cuts, lack of leadership who are being given "pink slips" even on the battlefield!
May the next Congress coming into power with the intent of getting this Christian country back to the way it was meant to bea republic run by the people.
"The deliberations of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 were held in strict secrecy. Consequently, anxious citizens gathered outside Independence Hall when the proceedings ended in order to learn what had been produced behind closed doors.
"The answer was provided immediately. A Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?"
"With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it."
On this note, maybe we should ask the same question, "Do we have a republic (as our founders voted for), a democracy or a soon-to-be dictatorship?
