Group to place wreaths on veterans' graves

Kris Smith and members of the Employee Value Team of CryoMachinery from Air Products and Chemicals Inc., are having a Wreaths Across America ceremony noon Dec. 13 at Grandview Cemetery, 2735 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall.

Immediately following the short remembrance ceremony, a laying of wreaths will take place.

Wreaths Across America was started in 1992 by Morrill Worcester, owner of Worcester Wreath in Harrington, Maine.

The mission of the nonprofit charity is to "Remember, Honor and Teach."

As part of its mission, the organization coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies on a specified Saturday in December at Arlington National Cemetery and at veterans' cemeteries in all 50 states and beyond.

The cost of the program is paid by individual wreath sponsors, corporate donors and volunteer truckers.

In addition, Wreaths Across America provides seven ceremonial wreaths: POW/MIA, Merchant Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.
