UPPER AND LOWER MILFORD COLUMN

The Upper Milford Board of Supervisors will hold the regular first meeting of the month Dec. 4, with a workshop 7 p.m. and the regular meeting 7:30 p.m. The schedule for the rest of the month has not been determined, but the supervisors often cancel the meeting usually scheduled the second Thursday and hold a brief year-end meeting after Christmas. Check with the township office.

At their second meeting in November, the supervisors adopted a tentative budget for 2015 which calls for no tax increase. The budget will be available online and in the township office for residents to review and comment on.

Upper Milford Fire Company, Route 100, Old Zionsville, serves breakfast 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the first Sunday of every month. There are senior, adult and children's prices. The December breakfast will be Dec. 7. In January, the breakfast will be Jan. 4, 2015.

The Ladies Auxiliary meets 7 p.m. Jan. 6, 2015 at the firehouse. New members are always welcome.

The Lower Milford Fire Company, 1601 Limeport Pike, will hold a pork and sauerkraut dinner 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 11.

If you need a break from all the cooking you've been doing for the Christmas holiday, the fire company will offer breakfast 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 28. The menu includes eggs to order, omelets, potatoes, creamed chipped beef, bacon, sausage, ham, French toast and pancakes. Children under 4 years old are free, and as always, members of the military, firefighters, fire police EMT members and police will receive a discount.

The deadline for first and second graders to register for the Upper Milford Youth Association winter basketball league is Dec. 15. The first and second grade program will be held at Victory Valley.

Municipal meeting schedules are often changed during December, so check with your township office if you are interested in attending any meetings.

The Emmaus-Upper Milford Joint Environmental Advisory Council will meet 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22 in Emmaus but that is subject to change.

The Upper Milford Historical Society will not meet in December, but be sure to check out the beautiful quilt made by society members, which is hanging in the Upper Milford Township building.

The Lower Milford Historical Society will meet 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8. For more information, go to the website, LowerMilfordHistory.org.

Following is the schedule of Lower Milford December meetings. All meetings are 7:30 p.m. in the township building unless otherwise noted: Historical Commission, Dec. 9; Board of Supervisors workshop Dec. 4, regular meeting Dec. 18.

All local churches have activities and special services for the Christmas season and Old Zionsville United Church of Christ is especially busy. In addition to its Christmas season services, the church will have its annual cookie walk 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 13, with homemade Christmas cookies and candy for sale by the pound. Save yourself some time, come and buy your favorites.

The kitchen will be open for a light lunch. The church is located at 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville. For information, call the church at 610-966-5115 or 610-966-5220.

The outlook committee at Old Zionsville UCC is holding a breakfast buffet 7 to 11 a.m. Dec. 13 all you can eat. The menu includes bacon, ham, sausage, eggs, French toast, pancakes, potatoes, chipped beef, juice, fruit cup, coffee and dessert. For information, call 610-966-5115.
