Shelter House

The Shelter House, 601 S. Fourth St., Emmaus, will hold an open house during Emmaus' Old-Fashioned Christmas celebration noon to 4 p.m.

Santa Claus will make an appearance 2 to 3 p.m. He will hand out goodie bags to children. The children will be invited to make an ornament to hang on the tree during the tree ceremony on the Triangle.

Alyssa Babeki, a Cedar Crest student and a violinist, will entertain with holiday music 1 to 4 p.m. Babeki has played violin for 14 years with the Boyertown school orchestra and continues to take private lessons.

Guests will be treated to warm cider and homemade cookies. Many of the cookie recipes are included in the Shelter House commemorative cookbook which will be displayed.

The Shelter House, a 1734 Germanic log cabin, is known as the oldest continuously inhabited log structure in Lehigh County.

All Emmaus' historic houses, the 1803 House, Knauss Homestead and the Shelter House are open noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 6. Tours and activities are free.
