Twenty six years ago at a public meeting regarding a new zoning ordinance for Lower Macungie Township approximately 200 citizens attended. This rezoning ordinance in 1988 changed many areas including land to Agricultural Preservation one house per acre for land west of Route 100.
The new ordinance when adopted led to the current Jaindl land debacle from agricultural preservation to a million square feet of warehouses for Jaindl.
Of the 200 citizens, only two spoke against the stupid rezoning. The rest of our citizens were daydreaming.
Today our township has a windfall of funds from the transfer taxes received and on stream to be received. Our commissioners have decided to use $3 million for a new park; $3 million is a lot of money. Where is our public comment?
Lower Macungie Citizens are again daydreaming. Our township needs to replace our old bridges.
When it floods many bridges are unusable.
