Display of some of the 400 dolls in its collection during the month of December at the Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown. The vast assortment of dolls from many different countries were donated by Harriet Backenstoe and Dorothy Knauss to the Allentown Public Library. Display continues through Dec. 30.

Dec. 4

Allentown AARP Chapter #5415 will meet noon at St. Timothy's Church, 140 S. Ott St., Allentown. A membership recognition holiday lunch for 2014 paid members will be held noon until 1 p.m. There is a charge for guests with reservation. At 1 p.m., open to the public, Beverley Bley as "Mrs. Santa Claus," will entertain and talk about her famous spouse. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Allentown Food Bank. Eighth annual holiday book sale and reception in the Margaret Knoll Gardner Room of the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. Held in cooperation with the Emmaus Main Street Partners' Old Fashioned Christmas celebration, the sale will feature pre-enjoyed books for all interests and ages in gift-worthy condition at budget- pleasing prices. Hours are 6 to 8:30 p.m. An Emmuas High School instrumental ensemble will play seasonal music. Shoppers can sample wine, cheese and punch.

Dr. John Felmy, chief economist, of American Petroleum Institute will give a talk on turning present day energy/economic challenges into future opportunities for America, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Chrin Community Center, 4100 Green Pond Road, Easton. This free talk is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Project 9-12 Tea Party Group.

Luther Crest will begin the holiday season by hosting a "parade of trees," a decoration display, at the senior living community 3 p.m. Open to the public, the event will include refreshments and warm drinks. Dec. 13

Macungie Holiday will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local businesses, the historical society and Macungie Memorial Park participate in this borough-wide event. Activities will include a scavenger hunt for all ages with participating businesses and community organizations; farmers market vendors at Macungie Institute; train displays at the Macungie Institute; breakfast with Santa at Grace Lutheran Church; horse drawn surrey rides in Macungie Park; "Home for the Holidays" at a Victorian home, 20 W. Main Street; Nutcracker highlights by Coral's Academy of Dance at Eyer Middle School; free trolley rides throughout Macungie; holiday crafters at Macungie Memorial Park and much more. Sit down free turkey dinner with all the trimmings offered to the community of Emmaus at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St. Everyone is welcome. Dinner will be served promptly 4 p.m. followed by a Christmas program and ending with dessert by 6 p.m. The snow date will be 4 p.m. Dec. 14.
