Parkland Community Library, Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is partnering with the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley to collect Holiday Hope Chests for local children.

Community members are asked to drop off shoeboxes filled with small gifts for underprivileged children at the circulation desk until Dec. 2.

Holiday Hope Chests should have the shoebox top and bottom wrapped separately with a gift tag attached to the box's end.

All gifts should be new and geared toward the age and gender of the child.

The following items will not be accepted in the Holiday Hope Chests: used items, food, toy guns, movie gift cards, knives, razors, violent books and media, balloons, religious items, scissors, glass items, Webkinz and cameras.
