The State Theatre Center for the Arts in Easton's "2014 Year-End Giving Campaign - Let's Raise the Roof" seeks donations that will be used to repair the historic building's roof which has been damaged by weather over the years.

"One of our biggest responsibilities is keeping our historic building in good condition," said President & CEO Shelley Brown.

"The State Theatre is on the National Register of Historic Places, and, sometimes, that is both a blessing and a curse. Our roof is leaking, and it is painful to see how much damage water can cause to our beautiful plaster and gold-leafed ceilings.

"We hope that our community will be as responsive to this need as it was to helping with a new curtain last year. We all love this building, and want to keep it dry and beautiful," Brown said.

Multiple roof tops of the Center for the Arts where patched and repaired during the building's renovation in 1990. Now, 24 years later, water leaks have begun to deteriorate the plaster work inside the main hall.

Thanks to a grant from Northampton County's General Purpose Authority half of the funding has been secured. The theater officials hope to raise the remaining $46,000 from community contributions.
