The Union Street Bridge in Allentown is open, just in time for access to sledding on the grass terrace at the adjacent Joseph S. Daddona Lake and Terrace. Work on replacing the former 1930 bridge over Cedar Creek began in March 2013 with a completion date of December 2014. The new bridge, which is wider, longer and has sidewalks on both sides, is at St. Elmo and Union streets. General contractor for the $3.3-million project was J.D. Eckman, Inc., Atglen, Chester County.
