Living Stone donates to Turning Point, food pantry

Living Stone Fellowship Church, New Tripoli, recently sponsored a tricky tray fundraiser to benefit Christ's Church at Lowhill Food Pantry and Turning Point of Lehigh Valley, which assists domestic violence victims.

On Oct. 5, the church presented the checks to Bev Kistler of the food pantry and Turning Point Development Director Donna Forte.

The organizations each received $1,135.50 – half the proceeds from the tricky tray, were organized by church member Renee Achey.

Kistler thanked the church for the donation.

"This is a very, very generous gift to the food pantry," she said. "In 2009, we served two families. In September, we served 77 families – 288 individuals."

Forte thanked the congregation and spoke briefly about domestic violence.

"I thank each and every one of you for making this donation happen," Forte said. "Sadly, the safe house is full on a regular basis with women and children."

Forte also offered her group's services to give free presentations in the community about domestic violence.
