No tax increase planned

The proposed 2015 budget for Washington Township was accepted and will be advertised.

Supervisors discussed the spending plan at their Nov. 5 meeting.

The total budget is for $1,523,540.

The possible hiring of a township manager-zoning officer was considered and an ordinance creating that position will be advertised.

The budget shows the amount of $60,000 allocated for the position, if filled.

The secretary-clerk will receive a raise of 1.5 percent. Firefighters' relief money, which is a pass-through from the state is set at $45,000.

A combined contribution to the three fire companies for truck purchases is $55,000.

The purchase of a dump truck is budgeted for $105,000.

The amount to be spent for salt for winter road maintenance was set at $30,000. Road maintenance was allocated $153,903.

The sewer account is for $500,062. A street light and fire hydrant account is for $18,313.

Liquid fuels money received from the state for paving will be $257,970. The amount is also listed in the expense account.

Taxes will remain at .3 mill.

Newside Estates development has been sold. Supervisors voted to close the original state road occupancy permit.

The new owners, if they proceed with the plan, will also need a new National Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit.

A letter was received by the board requiring any benefits, referring to spouses, must not say anything about the opposite sex but is the person married to an employee.

The ordinance will be changed and then advertised.
