As a mission outreach program for Christ's Church, volunteers have been stocking shelves with donations to help families within Northwestern Lehigh School District at the Christ's Church at Lowhill Food Pantry, since opening its doors in May 2009.
In partnership with area churches, Second Harvest Food Bank of Allentown and members of the community, the pantry will be serving approximately 80 families this season.
The pantry will be accepting donations to stock shelves 9-11 a.m. Nov. 18 and 29.
Donations can also be made by appointment by calling 610-298-2054 or Nancy Holbrook at 610-674-2440.
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Barbara Kistler at lowhillfoodpantry@gmail.com.
In preparation for Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season, the pantry is accepting instant stuffing mix, boxed mashed potatoes, canned sweet potatoes, sauerkraut and gravy.
In addition to specialty items, the pantry always needs boxed cereal, canned tuna and chili, hearty soups, household cleaners, toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, dish soap, laundry detergent, tea bags, coffee and pet food.
Monetary donations are used for purchasing milk, eggs and meat.
New socks in child and adult sizes may be dropped off at both New Tripoli Banks and ESSA Bank for the Blessing Shop's collection of new and nearly new clothing located in the basement of the food pantry.
Families who qualify for food items in the pantry are also welcomed to select from the new and gently used clothing, toys and household items donated in the shop.
Anyone interested in donating, may call the food pantry at 610-298-2054.
