Lauren Horner and the Monmouth University field hockey team earned a trip to the NCAA playoffs after beating Rider, 6-1, for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title.

The Hawks (13-7) have won six straight games to reach their first NCAA tournament. Monmouth faced 2012 national champ Princeton on Wednesday (after Press deadline) in a play in game.

Horner, a 2012 Northwestern Lehigh graduate and a junior defender at Monmouth, has started all 20 games this year and has one goal and two assists. She also earned a spot on this year's MAAC All-Academic Team.
