Student of the week Marne Wigfield
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am in 12th grade.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject in school is science, specifically anatomy and physiology. I find it so interesting to learn about the human body and how intricate and complex it is.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I have been inducted into National Honor Society as well as the French Honor Society. I received the 4.0 award, as well as department-based awards. I was a member of the 2013-2014 Biology Olympics team for Emmaus High School that took first place.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I am involved in my church, Bethel Bible Fellowship Church in Emmaus. I work in the nursery and run the computer during the service. I also go to youth group there. I work for my father's landscaping business as well.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: After high school, I plan on going to DeSales University to get a bachelor's degree in nursing.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: Senior year has been a challenge to me so far. This year I am in a program called the Emerging Health Professionals program. In this program I take anatomy and physiology at Lehigh Carbon Community College two mornings per week and go to Lehigh Career and Technical Institute two mornings per week. On one morning per week I shadow professionals in hospital settings. I then go to high school in the afternoon. It has been a challenge to juggle my schedule and adjust to the expectations of a college class.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I want to be remembered for being a hard worker, motivated student and a good friend.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My family includes my father, David, my mother, Cheryl, and my younger brother, Andrew. My family also includes a chocolate Labrador, Toby, a Shih Tzu, Pepper and a cat, Moses.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: I am blessed to have a ton of amazing role models in my life, but I especially look up to two of my cousins, Brie and Jaime. They are both very motivated, smart women who support me in my choices.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Work hard, but have fun. Try not to spend all of your high school years stressing out.
