The Bach Choir of Bethlehem's board of managers has elected Harold G. Black president of the board, succeeding David G. Beckwith, board president for 10 years.
Black has been on The Bach Choir's board of managers since 2003, chairing the Guarantor Committee, Marketing Committee, co-chairing the 2013 Gala, and assistant treasurer on the Finance Committee.
Black chaired the "Re-imagining the Bethlehem Bach Festival Task Force," working with Greg Funfgeld, artistic director and conductor; Bridget George, executive director, and board, staff and choir members.
Black was an executive at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., retiring in 2011. He received Chemical Engineering, Spanish and Business degrees from Bucknell University and the University of Delaware.
In retirement, Black has managed programs for the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley, helped Trout Unlimited form a fly fishing club at Lehigh University, and studied piano and music composition with his compositions performed in recital at Community Music School.
He sings in the choir of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem. Black and his wife Allison enjoy travel and attending music performances of all genres.
