Ben and his best friend dressed up as the Minecraft characters Creeper and Steve for Halloween this year. They looked great together but logistical details weren't fully worked out prior to trick-or-treating.
The main part of the costume was a large cardboard box covering the head. Besides the issue of limited vision, every time the boys bent their heads down to look in a candy bowl, they banged heads. Ben also had a cardboard body limiting his leg stride so he had a hard time going up and down steps.
Their collisions and mobility issues looked like a comedy routine from Laurel and Hardy. In the end they worked the issues out and came away with quite a haul of candy.
The next column will be published Dec. 3; copy deadline is Nov. 26.
