It is hard to believe Halloween has come and gone, daylight saving has ended and we are facing arguably the busiest time of the year. There is plenty going on in the area as well.

Harry S Truman Elementary School is holding its annual book fair Nov. 3 to 7. There will be evening shopping hours for parents 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 3 and 6 and the children have all made wish lists from their library visits.

On Nov. 10, HST will begin invitations to lunch, starting with the fifth grade. Lunch is from 11:50 a.m. through 12:20 p.m. Come enjoy lunch with your fifth-grader....it is their last year at Truman.

Boy Scouts from Troop 146 will hold a flag retirement ceremony 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at Eastern Salisbury firehouse, 1000 E. Emmaus Ave.

Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are participating in the annual scouting for food collection. If you would like to contribute and did not receive a donation bag at your house, bring food to the Eastern Salisbury firehouse, 1000 E. Emmaus Ave. between 9 and 10 a.m. Nov. 8. All food collected stays in the Lehigh Valley to help local families.

There is a curriculum committee meeting 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at Lehigh Carbon Technical Institute, Building 4.

Salisbury High School will present performances of "Alices in Wonderland" 7 p.m. Nov. 13 to 15 and 3 p.m. Nov. 16. Tickets are available by calling 610-797-4107, ext. 2508 or by visiting salisburytheatre@salisburysd.org.

There will be a school board meeting in the administration building 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Nov. 19 Harry S Truman students will receive the first report cards of the 2014-2015 school year. Parent teacher conferences run Nov. 20 to 26.

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church will hold its basket social 7 p.m. Nov. 7.

The Franko Farm yard waste drop off site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 8. Curbside leaf collection continues in the township. Keep cars clear of leaf piles so the leaves can be collected.
