Two Lynn Township women were killed when their cars collided head-on around 6:17 p.m. Oct. 21 at 7955 Kings Highway, Lynn Township, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said.
Amy L. Mende, 60, of 8951 Slateville Road, Kempton, was pronounced dead 7:20 p.m. at the scene by Lehigh County First Deputy Coroner Eric Minnich, Grim said.
Sylvia Koenig, 71, of 7493 Ontelaunee Road, New Tripoli, was also pronounced dead by Minnich at 7:21 p.m.
The cause of death for both women was multiple blunt force injuries, Grim said.
He ruled the manner of their deaths an accident.
According to State Police Troop M Fogels-ville, Mende was driving a 1996 Volvo S60. Koenig was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion.
The two women, whom Grim said were wearing seat belts, were extricated from their vehicles by New Tripoli and Kempton volunteer firefighters, police say.
Koenig, a 1961 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, was retired from the school district.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
