EMMAUS ARTS COMMISSION Student film festival tagged 'scary, suspenseful'

On Oct. 9, middle and high school students began the process of creating a "scary, suspenseful" movie as part of the 2014 Emmaus Arts Commission student film festival.

Students who attended the meeting received film tips from acting instructor Gema Carter, of Emmaus, and actor, director, producer and screenwriter Bill Hartin, of Easton.

Students also received a copy of the contest rules and each team captain picked two themes required to be a part of the film.

The students had 96 hours to complete their 6-minute films.

One of the rules included the requirement of a reference to Emmaus in each film.

Dr. Mike Waddell welcomed the students and introduced Jeff Shubzda who clarified the rules and answered questions from the students.

The films will be shown at the Emmaus Theatre 2 p.m. Oct. 26. An award ceremony will follow the viewing of the films.

Sponsors are still needed for the event and can contact the Emmaus Arts Commission at www. emmausarts.org for further information.
