Every two months, Lower Macungie Library displays original framed artwork by a different member of the Parkland Art League. Art exhibited is available for purchase. Throughout the months of October and November, the library is featuring the artwork of Luther Henninger.
When he was nine, Henninger painted his first picture at Walter Baum's Saturday art class in the Jackson Elementary School. Henninger then continued with lessons at the Baum School at 12th and Walnut streets in Allentown. As a teenager, he took painting classes with Clarence Dreisbach. James Musselman, his high school art teacher encouraged him and many others to enroll at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, where he studied briefly. His career drifted to drafting and he worked for Lehigh Structural Steel, Bethlehem Steel, Air Products, G. Edwin Pidcock Engineering Co. and Everett Associates Architects. Two years ago, after being retired for four years, Henninger resumed painting. He likes to paint outdoors as much as possible and enjoys recording rural scenery. This genre of paintings are currently featured at Lower Macungie Library.
