The Sheckler Elementary School Pumpkin Decorating Contest is coming up. Students are invited to participate by submitting a carved or decorated pumpkin or a combination of both. Entries must be submitted Oct. 27-29. Entries should be placed in the school's courtyard and labeled with the student's name and homeroom number. Remember pumpkins will be on display outside through Oct. 31, so you may want to make them weather-resistant.
First-place ribbons and certificates will be awarded to the winners in the following cataegeories: funniest, most colorful, best animal theme, best superhero theme, prettiest, most unusual, best classroom theme, best cartoon/movie character theme, scariest and most creative.
Judging will take place Oct. 30. Pumpkin entries must be removed at the end of the day on Oct. 31 or they will be discarded. Best of luck to all who participate.

Sheckler Shack will be open for business at Sheckler Elementary School Oct. 20-23. Students in each grade level will have the opportunity to shop and make purchases on their grade level's day to visit the Sheckler Shack.The schedule is as follows: first grade will shop Monday; second grade on Tuesday, third grade on Wednesday and fourth grade on Thursday.

Second-grade students enjoyed a field trip to Sieple's Farms on Oct. 7 to partake in some fun fall activities.

A big thank you to the volunteers from Catasauqua and North Catasauqua fire departments as well as the MedEvac crew for taking time out of their busy schedules to spend the day at Sheckler to help educate students on fire prevention and safety.
