John Rauch of New Tripoli took his giant pumpkin to the weigh-in at Shady Brook, Doylestown.

The event is the largest weigh-in sponsored by the Mid Atlantic Pumpkin Growers Association.

Rauch's pumpkin, which weighed 1,405 pounds, won second place earning him a prize of $750.

At the present time, his pumpkin is the 50th largest in the world.

Entries were from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, New Jersey and Delaware. The first place pumpkin weighed 1,461 pounds.

The largest in the world as of the Sept. 27 weigh-in was a pumpkin in Switzerland, which topped the scales at 2,092 pounds.
