Funny money

There have been news reports of small businesses and farmers markets being hit with counterfeit money.

Penn State Cooperative Extension will host a workshop called "Penny Wise: How to Identify Counterfeit Money" 6 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Lehigh County Agricultural Center, 4184 Dorney Park Road, South Whitehall.

Retired banker and Master Gardener Linc Coffin will share information he used to train bank tellers on how to easily recognize counterfeit bills.

Don't lose your hard earned money because of a counterfeit bill.

Coffin will discuss:

·There is no paper in U.S. paper money;

·Why the threads are important;

·Who is on what bill and why you need to know;

·The major difference between good counterfeits and real currency;

·How to use the newest anti-counterfeit features in U.S. currency.

Learning to identify counterfeit currency is like growing great vegetables a little knowledge and experience produces great tasting results and saves you a few dollars.
