EHS girls take third at EPC XC Meet

The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference cross country season officially came to a close with Tuesday's league meet at Bethlehem Municipal Park.

Amongst the top of the girls' team finishers was Emmaus, who finished in third place as a team. Freshman Abigail Dalton led the Lady Hornets with a time of 19:46.8, roughly 20 seconds behind first-place finisher Raisa Kochmaruk of Liberty.

"I didn't really know where I was for the whole race until a half of a mile near the end," Dalton said. "I realized where I was and started picking up the speed."

Rounding out the top five Emmaus girls are Katie Bacher (19th), Jaclyn Reinbold (24th), Kristen Bray (34th) and Katrina Durrwachter (39th). Bacher was also named the EPC Most Valuable Player for the regular season.

Liberty's Raise Kochmaruk took the top spot amongst EPC girls, while Parkland secured its fourth straight league title.

"I think I started off too fast," Dalton said. "I didn't know how hilly the first mile was, and I tired out after pretty much the first mile.

Darren Labenberg took 22nd place for the boys to lead Emmaus with a time of 18:06.2. Ian Adams also placed in the top 50 to help the Hornets to an eighth-place finish as a team with 223 points.

Todd Moxey came in 52nd, Luke Pukanecz finished 54th and Tyler Corpora placed 63rd.

Easton, which finished first in the boys competition, had Colin Abert and Kevin Lapsansky place first and second, respectively, amongst the 148 boys participants.
