LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Dancing in the streets

The fourth annual Oktoberfest was held recently with its special celebration of German culture and "much more" under the direction of ArtsQuest at its SteelStacks campus in South Bethlehem.

The six-day festival expanded its size and activities to coincide with a new free admission policy this year.

The changes were designed to boost attendance by attracting more families and members of the Lehigh Valley community and beyond.

Whimsical games included a barrel roll, a "Das Boot" beer pour, a stein race and the traditional Oktoberfest test of strength and endurance, "Masskrugstemmen.

Another attraction was the opportunity to work among glass staff to transform molten glass into a beautiful glass pumpkin or glass apple. No experience was necessary.

Yuengling continues to be the principal supporter of Oktoberfest in Bethlehem.
