Upper Macungie Township will be hosting "Barktoberfest" 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 11 at Upper Macungie Park, 1625 N. Route 100, Fogelsville. Rain date is Oct. 12.

There will be a pet costume contest and parade, DJ, shows, K-9 demonstration by Upper Macungie police, Kiddie Korner, food and lots of vendors.

Admission is free. All dogs must be on leashes and under control at all times.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will be hosting Book Club for Seniors 3-4 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Bistro at Luther Crest retirement community, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall Township.

This month's selection is "State of Wonder" by Ann Patchett.

The library's book group Book Quest will meet 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 15 to discuss "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins.

New members are always welcome.
