Have a ball! Heidelberg Association of Retired Persons, better known as H.A.R.P., will meet 4 p.m. Oct. 9, at Spring Hill Golf, Schnecksville.

All are encouraged to come out for a fall afternoon of miniature golf followed by a bite to eat after the game. Kids are welcome to come along, too.

Hoagie happiness! Germansville Fire Company is selling Thompson's Hoagies once a month to benefit the 100th anniversary celebration.

Support your local fire company by buying or selling hoagies Oct. 20, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8.

Delivery will be between 3-4 p.m. Oct. 29, Nov. 19 and Dec. 17.

Joyful giving! According to Heidelberg Church soup kitchen Assistant Coordinator Linda Hausamann, 205 hot meals were served recently to the hungry and homeless at the Allentown Soup Kitchen.

The meal consisted of barbecue chicken, rice, garden salad and delicious chocolate baked goods from many faithful Heidelberg bakers.

The tomatoes and peppers for the salad were donated from Heidelberg Church's youth garden.

Special thanks to the following volunteers of the day: Pastor David Hess, Doris and Richard Koenig, Eleanor and Ron Klevenhagen, Marie Kistler, Linda Hausa-mann and Howard Truitt.

Calling all bakers! Request for apple pies and apple desserts are being sought for Oct. 13.

Spread the word! The Pastorius Home Association, Germansville, is running a trip Oct. 26 to the Octoberfest at the Taj Mahal. Bus departs Neff's at 8:45 a.m.

The event features traditional German and Austrian cuisine, entertainment from the U.S. and Europe, and vendors with a variety of gifts, CDs and DVDs, and German merchandise for sale.
