Salisbury's Gonoude places third at Paul Short Invitational

Salisbury's Kyle Gonoude was the Falcons' top finisher in Saturday's Paul Short Run at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus. His time of 16:11 in the 5,000 meter run stationed him in third place of 312 participants, and just 21 seconds behind Mercersburg Academy's Gabriel Allgayer for first place.

The Falcons' Greg Fry (18:05) and Joseph Fainor (18:09) placed 98th and 106th, respectively, to round out the Falcons' top three boys runners. Pete DuBois (19:53) placed 250th, while Cole Warmkessel ran a 20:35 for 283rd place.

Kelly Gonoude (19:52) paced the girls with a 23rd-place finish at the Paul Short Run. Sydney Utesch (23:13) finished 165th, and Holly Szita (24:44) came in 197th out of 236 runners.

Following last week's Colonial League meet at Palmerton, both the boys and girls sit at 9-12 on the season with one league matchup remaining before postseason play.

Kyle Gonoude earned another first-place finish with a time of 16:18, 21 seconds in front of Palmerton's Zach Svetik. Fainor (17:59) came in ninth for the boys, and Greg Fry finished in 13th with a time of 18:04. Sam DeFrank (19:50) and Warmkessel (20:07) also placed in the top 40.

On the girls' side, Kelly Gonoude ran a 19:45 at Palmerton, good enough for fourth place. Utesch came in 26th with a time of 23:30, Brooke Rogers (23:51) placed 30th and Ruby Weiner (24:24) finished 34th.
