The Board of Directors of Lehigh Valley Zoological Society has selected Melissa Borland as the new President & CEO of Lehigh Valley Zoo, effective Sept. 15.

"She brings an incredible ability to run and operate a family-friendly operation," said Salvatore B. Verrastro, Principal, Spillman Farmer Architects and Lehigh Valley Zoological Society Chairman.

Prior to joining the Zoo, Borland was Executive Director of the Miracle League of Lehigh Valley. Borland previously worked for the Orefield campus of KidsPeace and Cornell Abraxas, operating programs for children in need.

"Lehigh Valley Zoo is a wonderful facility, with limitless potential for growth and enhancement. I've devoted my career to promoting happiness for children and families. The Zoo is a perfect place to continue my journey," Borland said.

She is a graduate of Kutztown University.
