LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

CENTRAL CATHOLIC COLUMN

On Oct. 8, Allentown Central Catholic High School will welcome the eighth grade students from feeder schools across the Lehigh Valley at the eighth grade visitation.

Students in eighth grade will come to Central 9 a.m. to noon. During their time at the school, the visiting students will have the opportunity to ask questions, meet students and participate in other fun activities. Viking Mentors and Viking Ambassadors will be the student volunteers helping run this affair. Central is excited to welcome its potential freshmen and help them feel welcome to Central Catholic.

Upcoming at Central Catholic for all freshman, sophomores and juniors is PSAT testing. On Oct. 15, these underclassmen will take a practice SAT standardized test, with an early dismissal 11:30 a.m. This test is a great opportunity for students to find out which area they may need to study most for the real SAT. Students take tests in the reading, writing and math portions of the SAT and receive scores reporting how they did. They will also have the choice to register for emails from interested colleges.

The scores students receive will not be sent out to any colleges. Instead, students will receive the scores just for the their own personal reference. Seniors do not have to attend school that day as they do not participate in PSAT testing.

Students do not report to school Oct. 13.
