State Police Beat

Driver cited

for DUI

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Susan Kistler, 52, of Kempton, was driving a 2005 Toyota Sienna minivan 6 p.m. Sept. 3 westbound on Lock Valley Road, Weisenberg Township, when it struck a PennDOT sign and shrubbery.

According to police, Kistler apparently lost control of the minivan, which went off the roadway and hit the PennDOT traffic sign on the right shoulder.

Police say Kistler turned the steering wheel to the left to avoid hitting the sign and the minivan began to travel in a southward direction into a field hitting the shrubbery.

Kistler, who was wearing her seat belt, was transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

The minivan sustained disabling front-end damage and was towed by Hauser's Towing, Allentown.

State Police Trooper Salvatore Alaimo assisted at the scene.

Kistler was issued citations for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed, and careless driving.

The citations were filed with District Judge Michael Faulkner, Upper Macungie Township.
