Well worth it! Forgotten Felines and Fidos animal shelter, Germansville, is looking for donations for its purse bingo fundraiser.

Chinese auction items are also needed for the event.

The name-brand purse bingo will take place on Sept. 28 at St. John the Baptist Slovak Church, 924 N. Front St., Allentown. Doors will open 11:30 a.m. Bingo starts at 1 p.m.

In addition to food, there will be a raffle, 50/50, bake sale and games of chance.

Proceeds benefit the shelter.

Mark your calendar! The Disciples, a group of passionate young men from Teen Challenge Training Center, and who are on fire for Christ, will be attending the Heidelberg UCC, 8:30 a.m. service Sept. 28.

The group spreads the Gospel to the urban community, youth and young adults through Christian Rap (Holy Hip Hop).

The Disciples say teens are "faced with difficult choices, temptations and tolerance of things that are immoral."

"Our goal is to embrace, strengthen, teach, reassure, foster, inspire, impact and encourage them to make the right choice."

All are invited to attend the service.

Joel and Angie Jaku-bowski will present "Addiction ...and Restoring the Family" 7-8 p.m. Oct. 1 at Heidelberg Church.

The educational program helps individuals and families to more clearly understand the nature of addiction, its effect on the addicted and family and friends.

The program provides information on recognizing unhealthy response patterns to the addicted loved one and tools for healthy responses.

Fall fun! On Oct. 9, Heidelberg Association of Retired Persons, better known as H.A.R.P., will meet 4 p.m. at Spring Hill Golf in Schnecksville.

Join them for a fall afternoon of miniature golf followed by something to eat after the golf game.

Kids are welcome to come along, too.

The Pastorius Home Association, Germansville, is running a trip Oct. 26 to the Oktoberfest at the Taj Mahal.

The bus departs Neffs at 8:45 a.m.

The event features traditional German and Austrian cuisine, entertainment from the U.S. and Europe, and vendors with a variety of gifts, CDs and DVDs, and German merchandise for sale.

Game on! Heidelberg Township's bowling league welcomes people in the area to join its team.

Men, women, couples and young adults of all ages are encouraged to join this active group of bowlers 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Slatington Bowling Center.

The league has just started and will continue through April 2015.
